ERGONOMICS AI policy
The ERGONOMICS Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy defines the responsible use of generative AI assisted tools and it applies to authors preparing their manuscripts for the Ergonomics Proceedings. In order to provide academic transparency and integrity, the criteria for authorship comply with the guidelines established by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for authors, journals editors, publishers, and others involved in producing research-related publications.
Authorship criteria:
All authors have given substantial contributions to the submitted manuscript in terms of concept, research and data analysis; all authors have approved the validity and evaluation of the research data, and the final version of the submitted manuscript; COPE position statement compliance: “authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscript even those parts produced by an AI tool, and are thus liable for any breach of publication ethics.”
AI in manuscript preparation:
Generative AI assisted tools do not meet the criteria of the Ergonomics Proceedings authorship criteria and cannot be listed as authors. AI assisted tools cannot be used in generating significant methodological parts of the conducted research; Assistance may include data collection, text, data or graphics generation, with a disclosure in the ‘Acknowledgement’ section of the submitted manuscript; AI assisted tools can be used for translating, proofreading, or structurally improving the manuscript text written by the authors.
